INTRODUCTION

« Metanoia » :

Pas tout à fait un nom propre, mais une manière, à la fois furtive et insistante, de désigner un ensemble d'opérations qui ne cessent pas de ne pas finir. Il a bien fallu un point de départ : la rue, avec ses occasions, ses recoins, ses rendez-vous contingents, sa magie un peu sale… Assez pour susciter des rencontres  improbables, à la limite du jeu chorégraphique et d'une exploration des limites du visible. En quoi peut-on dire d'un mouvement qu'il est imperceptible ? Quelle est la frontière du spectaculaire ? A quelles conditions un événement peut-il être reconnu comme tel ? Que faut-il pour qu'un geste affecte un espace, et transforme de présumés spectateurs en acteurs à part entière du drame du visible et du sensible ?

Tout concourt à poser les bases d'un art de la  «performance » comme art de l'immédiat, comme art de faire surgir la puissance d'inauguration de l'instant. Une manière d'engager le corps qui ne se conforme pas aux codes dominants de la représentation, mais qui mobilise les ressources du sentir pour célébrer l'inouï, l'inédit, en restituant au mouvement (théâtral, ordinaire, dansé…) sa force de choc et de révélation. Cet effort investit de plus en plus l'espace de l'atelier pour interroger les possibilités d'une écriture chorégraphique à partir d'une mise en oeuvre de la matière vivante.

Not exactly a « title », but a possibility, a pathway both yielding and insistant, designating a never ending set of occurrences looking to cease, to find an ending. A starting point imposed itself: the street, with its hidden corners and unforeseen meeting places, with its magic somewhat worn but full of potency… enough to generate improbable meetings, at a crossing point between choreographic play and an exploration at the edges of the visible.   How can one describe a movement as imperceptible? When does one cross the border into the spectacular? Under what conditions can an event be recognised as such? What is needed for a gesture to affect the space and transform the so-called spectators into full fledged actors in a drama both « visible » and « sensitive ».
All elements converge towards the creation of a foundation for an « art of performance », an art of the immediate, capable of bringing forth the power of inauguration inherent in the present moment. Engaging the body in a stance freed from dominant socio-political codes of representation, we mobilize our awareness celebrating the original and the unexpected, rehabilitating movement (theatrical, pedestrian and danced…) in its power to both shock and reveal.
This research also evolves within the confines of the studio as an enquiry into the possibilities of choreographic creation arising from what is alive within.
